Ramp to the Avenue School in Reading

The Contractor that I worked for McCarthy Fitt from Reading was required to construct a substantial ramp up a slope to provide easier wheelchair access to a disabled school on the Basingstoke Road in Reading.

The works were mainly carried out by directly employed labour. I had to organise a few subcontractors (for the balustrades etc) and produce the monthly cost-value statements. I also had to liaise with the school to ensure that invoices were paid.

The project was relatively successful financially despite the issues with carrying out the construction works during a particularly wet period of weather.
