Leighton Park School is a private school in Reading, Berkshire. It had traditionally been a boys boarding school but now was transforming into a mixed sex school. In addition, times were changing and the open hospital style open dormitories were being replaced to provide more privacy.
McCarthy Fitt were carrying out the conversion of large domitories into sleeping cells by building studwork walls. Inside the studies/bedrooms, McCarthy Fitt also installed custom made units with desks under a bed above. The works had to be carried out during the summer holidays so the Contract was by definition fast track.
I had to liaise with Bursar of the School to ensure that payments were made promptly and to agree valuations with him too. Internally I placed all of the orders with suppliers and subcontractors as well as preparing internal cost statements.
The company was able to complete on time and the project was successful.
