This school near Slough was a fire damaged (arson) that required some rebuild, some refurbishment and it was also extended. Access to the site was easy although there was considerable demolition prior to new works commencing.
The structure was a traditional brick/block cavity wall with a steep pitched roof. There were no particular issues with the project although the finishes were bright.
I was McCarthy Fitt's QS for the project and I had to liaise with Berkshire County Council to ensure that valuations were correct and invoices paid. Internally for the contractor I obtained quotes from suppliers and subcontractors and valued their works accordingly. I also prepared internal cost statements each month.
