I was an Assistant Surveyor on this project that was the new build of council offices on the edge of the Great Walk in Windsor. The project had a high specification with much hardwood incorporated in the design together with special bricks.
It was my responsibility to assist with the measurement and valuation of the subcontractors works. I also assisted with obtaining quotations for subcontract works too. I would meet on site with the major subcontractors (e.g. bricklayers) and agree their interim valuations.
The company also had some directly employed carpenters who carried out the hardwood quality works while a subcontract carpenter did the softwood works. I assisted in valuing the bonus payments for the carpenters.
I also assisted the Senior Surveyor, Bryan Winchester, with main valuations with the Clients Quantity Surveyors who were Henry Cooper of Windsor. Further to this I assisted with figures that were incorporated in the montly valuation reports and cash flow forecasts.
I was office based in Maidenhead but would visit site regularly to meet with JM Jones Site Staff as well as subcontractors and suppliers.
