This was the first project that I undertook without supervision as a Quantity Surveyor. The company that I worked for at the time, JM Jones in Maidenhead had a developer section and this was one of the in house projects.
The project was an easy construction of steel frame units with cladding and some brickwork at low level with small offices and facilities.
I was responsible for letting the subcontracts and their payment, cost planning, valuations with the Clients Quantity Surveyor, cost reporting and cash flow forecasts. I also attended site meetings and ensured that the project made its projected return by advising of variations and valuing them accordingly.
