I started with High Point Rendel (HPR) in November 2007 on this major project to build a Palm shaped Island into the Gulf off of the coast of Dubai. HPR had two consultants working on the project but one of them was about to leave the company and I took over the role as Assignment Manager for HPR.
Our responsibilities were to check and advise on Contracts that the Contractor Nakheel was letting to subcontractors, consultants and suppliers. We prepared reports on these and made suggestions on changes and corrections. We also gave advice on disputes with subcontractors or consultants that Nakheel had employed. The assignment included attending meetings and negotiations with these third parties.
On this assignment I supervised one colleague during most of the duration. I also liaised with Nakheel staff and other Consultants.
Due to the recession in late 2008, I stopped working on this project from December 2008 and HPR also ceased working on the project too.
