The excavation works and tunnel inlet works out into the Humber was well underway when I arrived on the project. I was the Project Quantity Surveyor with Kier Construction with one assistant on this civil engineering construction of a pump house and associated works.
I was responsible for valuation preparation and cost reporting. With my assistant we also obtained quotations for the future works packages as well as administering the ongoing works on site.
The Contract generally was on programme and on budget. However at this stage in my life and career I had decided after nearly 5 years of living away from home that I wanted to be based closer to my home at the time in Maidenhead. I therefore left Kier and took up a new position with Tarmac London Paving in Richmond, Surrey.
