Huntercombe Pump House, Oxfordshire

Having been transferred from the Hampton Water Works project, I had expected to start work on the new Young Offenders units project at Huntercombe between Henley and Wallingford, Oxfordshire. However due to riots in the prison at Strangeways the budget money was used for this and my project was delayed. As a consequence I worked on the final account for the Pump House project.

The Pump House was buried under a hill on the outskirts of the facility. There were few variations and the Site Manager had kept excellent records. Monthly cost value reports were easy to keep and there was little to do in the way of subcontractor valuation etc. As a result of this position I also assisted the Estimating Department in obtaining quotes for future projects.
